Lying along the shores of the Strait of Georgia, Qualicum Beach is a town defined
by its abundant recreational retreats, spectacular scenery and artistic atmosphere.
Making its home on Vancouver
Island, 147 km (88 mi) north of Victoria
and 117 km (70 mi) south of Campbell
River, this coastal town is teeming with water recreation and fabulous beaches.
Downtown Qualicum Beach is adorned with rows of hanging flower pots and colourful,
lively storefronts. Also quite distinctive is the absence of large franchises—each
restaurant and shop is as unique as the person who owns it. While here, a visit
to the Milner
Gardens and Woodlands is a must. The 10-hectare (25-acre) property was once
home to Ray Milner and his wife Veronica, a relative of the late Diana, Princess
of Wales. The Old
School House is also a worthwhile attraction, featuring artist studios, an
art gallery and live music on Sundays.
